The top two ways consumers protect their privacy is by clearing or disabling browser cookies and by limiting the information they share on social media sites, according to a Harris Poll survey.

Surprisingly, 36% said they read the terms of service before installing an app or signing up for a service. That sounds more like something people know they should do rather than something they actually do.

A third of consumers said they stopped using public WiFi connections and a third said they changed their default privacy settings.
