The US digital newspaper audience hit another milestone in October 2014 when total unique visitors rose 17% year over year to 166 million, compared with 142 million in October 2013, according to research conducted by comScore for the Newspaper Association of America (NAA). The study found that eight in 10 US adult internet users in October 2014 engaged with newspaper digital content.
Due to high adoption, mobile continued to fuel digital newspaper consumption, according to NAA, which found explosive 85% year-over-year growth in the US mobile-only newspaper audience.
Young women were a prime reason for this impressive gain. The percentage of 18-to-24-year-old females who used mobile exclusively for newspaper content soared 173% between October 2013 and October 2014. In comparison, the number of mobile-only male readers in this age bracket increased by 67%. Read the rest at eMarketer.
