TV Binge- vs Marathon-Viewing Frequency, November 2014 [CHART]

The majority of TV fans are marathoners—marathon-viewers, that is. According to a November 2014 study by HUB Research, 55% of US TV viewers marathon-viewed at least occasionally, with 21% doing so frequently. Meanwhile, only 17% had never watched some, most or all of a season’s worth of episodes of a show in a short period of time.

Among marathon-viewers, the majority admitted to doing so recently. More than two-thirds of marathoners had marathon-viewed a TV show in the past month, and half of respondents in this group had done so within the past week. Binge-viewing was even more popular. Seven in 10 US TV viewers admitted to binge-viewing—watching three or more episodes of a program in one sitting—at least occasionally, with 30% doing so frequently. Just 9% of respondents had never binge-viewed. Read the rest at eMarketer.
